About The Folk of Gloucester

‘The Folk’ is housed within a set of 16th century wooden timber buildings at the bottom of Westgate Street. Run by registered charity Gloucester Civic Trust ltd, what was formally a museum, is now a free to access thriving Community Heritage Centre. We deliver a full and busy programme of family events and activities, including free Folk singing and textile groups for everyone to enjoy. One visitor told us '‘What an incredibly precious place housing so many rich, valuable snippets of history. Thank you to all the passionate staff who are tremendous and so welcoming!’ Within The Folk is a delightful cafe serving home cooked light lunches and an array of homemade cakes (including GF/DF) Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 2pm. From the 14th March, and on Saturday’s only, we are serving Afternoon Teas. We also boast a tranquil garden lovingly cared for by a team of volunteers. Come and find out about the history of Gloucester, in our beautiful, quirky and ancient building.
